Hannukah Traditions

It’s finally school break and Hanukkah! As most kids do, they can’t wait for this time of year to get here. Some of you may not know why the holiday starts on a different day every year.  It is because the Jewish calendar is a Lunar calendar with 13 months.

Setting up for Hanukkah is a big deal with all the decorations and menorahs, especially when you have 3 daughters at home like I do. Tradition around our house is that every night, everyone lights their own menorah. We must have about 20 different ones to choose from.

Even with 1 daughter away from home, we still manage to find a way to light the candles together.

The other big tradition is spending one entire weekend day having the kids in the kitchen with me frying up lots of potato latkes (pancakes) for dinner that night.

At the Zins household, finding your present to open is not easy. My wife is very sneaky about labeling the gifts. She hides the first letter of our names-- or in my case D for Dad, somewhere in the print of the wrapping paper. Some gifts go back in the pile for another night as the kids can’t find their initials sometimes.

I'd personally like to say Thank you to our customers for your continued loyalty and support. And of course, we always encourage your engagement. What are your favorite Holiday traditions? Send us an email or leave a comment on our Quickscrews Facebook page

Happy Holidays,
